Mid week Restore & Relax
Take the time to release some of the tension that builds up during the week
Some Damm Good reasons to make restorative yoga a part of your life
So much to do, so little time.
Is your to do list long?
As you tick off one thing, does another get added?
Is there Rest and Restore on your list?
Our modern lives seem to place a lot of emphasis on getting through a to do list. There seems to be great deal of milage in being busy, stress is often worn as a badge of honour.
In this busy – ness we can lose sight of stillness and in turn healing.
It often takes an illness for the us to stop and pay attention to our bodies.
When we think of using our bodies to stay healthy, we often think of workouts, calories burned and sweat!
But life is a balance, we need to Relax and Restore just as much as we need to Stress and Fret.
If you’ve never attended a Restorative Yoga class then you might have the impression that all we do is take a nap! supported with bolsters, bricks and blankets.
That’s true to a certain extent.
Here’s some real reasons to incorporate this into your lives:
It boosts your mood – by soothing your fight or flight response we stimulate our rest and digest response.
Balancing these two systems with the use of props we can enter into a deeply meditative state, release tension and truly relax.
It can help reduce anxiety, depression & blood pressure.
Muscle tension and tightness can be painful, Restorative Yoga allows muscles to release and unfold, when we reduce tension the body is less stressed and better able to heal, helping us increase immunity and sleep quality.
I’m not going to claim weight loss, but one of the by products is you’re less stressed, so making sensible eating an easier choice.
Helps us have a deeper connection to ourselves – all of the ancient texts talk about the journey or inner connection to ourselves. Restorative Yoga helps that connection not only with ourselves but those around us.
Less is more
So, our to do lists are never ending and there’s never enough time to finish everything.
But guess what, if you take the time to rejuvenate and incorporate a Restorative Yoga practice into your lives, your cup will always be ½ full rather than ½ empty
So go grab your mat and some cushions – come see how it can help you re-balance.
Do I need to have done yoga before?
Will I need any equipment?
Yes and No
